Dear Classmates:
I hope all is well with you and your family! There are so many people who are experiencing illnesses and, so many who are losing relatives and friends. We are here and we are soooo glad that we are! Please keep each other, and our families, in your prayers! The I.C. Norcom family has lost alumni and a few former faculty and staff members, during the pandemic. All were not due to the coronavirus, but I am sure, due to the restrictions for public gatherings, they were more difficult to handle emotionally. I did send cards, from our class, to he families of those teachers who were there when we attended ICN.
At this time, our current reunion plans remain the same. However, we are staying alert and vigilant about the state of our nation's pandemic. We will continue to keep you up to date with plans and/or changes with our current reunion plans. There will not a class letter, this month. Just in case you still need the reunion registration info, I have included the it below:
REUNON LOCATION: Holiday Inn Convention & Conference Center
REUNION DATE: Friday, June 4, 2021 thru Sunday, June 6, 2021
REUNON FEE: $150 (for the three days of activities)
Checks/Money Orders and your registration form can be mailed to ERMA BOONE @ 314 S. DIVISION ST.-SUFFOLK, VA 23434, by March 1, 2021
Contact me it you need the Registration Form!
I am continuing to send cards to classmates during illness, births, deaths, etc. Please continue to keep me informed of any news/information (the good or the sad) that can be shared with classmates and cards can be sent.
BE SAFE! BE STRONG!! BE BLESSED!!!

APRIL 2019
APRIL 4, 2019
Dear Classmates
I hope all is well with you! Check out the links for our April Class Letter, Reunion Registration form, List of Missing Classmates (those persons whose contact information we still need).
SOAP BOX TIME: Over the years, some of us have worked hard to get contact info on classmates. Most of the time, we are successful and met with kindness and appreciation. Then, there are times that we are not. Most of those times, people say they do not want to participate because they have gained weight or they aren't where they thought they would be financially or career wise, or they mention an incident that happened in high school. Over the years, we have lost 82 class members. Believe it or not, someone in that group used one of those reasons and now they are GONE FOREVER; they no longer have a choice or can use their excuse. Let's not let unpleasant high school memories or weight gain or a different career path be the reason that you do not experience a milestone 82 of our classmates will not get a chance to experience.
Classmate Sick/Shut-In and Recuperation News/Updates:
- Donna Graham Elliott and her husband were involved in an auto accident. Their car was totaled, but they were not seriously injured. If you would like to them send cards, their address is: 615 Great Heron Ct-Chesapeake, VA 23322
- Veryl Stanley Hines had orthopedic surgery. Her recuperating is going well! I do not have contact info for Veryl, however, if you would like to send her "Get Well Wishes", she is on Facebook.
- Edith Parker McKinney's recuperation has gone very well and has been released to return back to work!
- Donna Long Darden (Me 😊) is recuperating very well and am almost back to her regular routine! Thank you for all the well wishes and prayers, known and unknown, sent to me or up for me, during my illness!!!!💕💕💕
Thank you and have a great GREYHOUND day!

FEBRUARY 2019
Dear Classmates,
February is here! This month highlights the history and accomplishments of our ancestors and heritage; the wonderful emotion of love; and, the birthdays of two US presidents. It also brings us one month closer to our "golden" class reunion! I hope you are planning to be there!
Check out our monthly class letter and a list of class members whose contact information we still need. If you have any questions about any of it, please feel free to contact me. If you have contact info for anyone on the "missing" list, please share their info with me, if it is alright with them. A lot of times class members do not attend their class reunions because they do not receive info; most of the time those persons do not receive info because reunion committees do not have correct contact info for them. We are making all efforts to contact as many classmates as we can via emails, texts, US mail and social media.
Have a fantabulous week and I hope to see you at our class meeting on Sunday, February 24th!
Thank you!

JANUARY 2019
Dear Classmates,
I hope you had a joyous holiday season! I want to thank our reunion vice-president, Deborah McKissick, for sending out class info the first of this month!
Thank you to classmates who called, sent a card, sent up a prayer, emailed or texted me when my mom was in the hospital the first of this month. It has been a physical, mental and emotional time, but with friends and God, we are all doing better. My mom is on hospice now. Not because she is terminally ill, but because of her age and multiple ailments, she qualifies. So, as a special request, please keep us in your prayers.
REMINDER: WE WILL MEET THIS MONTH ON THIS SUNDAY, JANUARY 27, AT KROGER AT 4 P.M. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions, concerns or want to serve on a reunion committee!
Thank you!

OCTOBER 2018
October 16, 2018
Dear Classmates,
This past weekend, the I.C. Norcom Grand Reunion was GREAT! If you attended all or some of the activities, I hope you enjoyed yourself as much as I enjoyed myself. It was a delight seeing former schoolmates, teachers, the family of Mr. McGriff and two of the former administrators I worked with Meeting Mrs. Inman, the oldest living Greyhound at 102, was an honor. And, the tribute and slide show for Ruth Brown was entertaining. Hopefully in five years, more members of our class members will be able to attend.
I am not a "selfie or picture taker", so I don't have any pictures to share. However, if you are on Facebook, go to the I.C. Norcom Grand Reunion 2018-Annual Reunions & Beyond page, to see the pictures shared there.
Prayers are needed for our classmate, James Lashley and his family. James is in Maryview Medical Center and is on a ventilator. His condition is not good. Also, I saw Glen Yonkers' sister, Karen, at Grand Reunion. She said he is doing well, however, because of his illness, he does not recognize or know anyone. If you would like to send him a card, he is at the Norfolk Health and Rehabilitation Center-901 E. Princess Anne Rd.-Norfolk, VA 23504.
Please keep all of our class members in your prayers, especially those who are ill/incapacitated.
Have a great GREYHOUND day!
Donna
Dear Classmates,
I hope all had a great September and all grands and great-grands started their school year off smoothly! I know all classmates in the Virginia area have said prayers of thanks and released sighs of relief for being spared from Hurricane Florence. To our classmates in North and South Carolina, I pray things are getting back to normal for you!
I have attached this month's class letter. (Side Bar: It is not too late to begin making payments on our Fifty Year Reunion.
The installment payment schedule is just a suggestion.)
Please make plans to join us at, what will be, our last three-day reunion! Please encourage other classmates to attend! WE WANT TO MAKE THIS ONE "THA BOMB"!
ANNOUNCEMENT:
The I.C. Norcom Class of 1971 is having a PRAYER BREAKFAST on Saturday, November 17, 2018, from 9 am to 11 am at Calvary Baptist Church at 2117 London Blvd.-Portsmouth, VA (the large red brick church at London and Constitution). Dear Classmates,
THANK YOU:
Thank you for all the well wishes, prayers and visits you extended during my mother's hospital stay! After nine days there, she is home and will be going through a lengthy period of recuperation. At 91, we are blessed she is here and we are showing her with plenty of love and attention.
PRAYERS NEEDED:
When we took my mom to the ER, Steve Felton and his wife, Vhelma, were there because Vhelma needed to be seen. Eventually, she needed to be transferred to Norfolk Sentara, but is home now. Please mention her in your prayers, while she is recuperating.
ICNAA GRAND REUNION INFO:
Due to more classmates and friends wanting to attend the Grand Reunion Banquet, our class has reserved a fourth table. If you still would like to attend and did/were not able to make the ICNAA deadline, we have four available seats at the fourth table. Just contact me to reserve your seat(s) and to get payment info.
Thank you and have a great GREYHOUND day!

JUNE 2018
Dear Classmates,
This is the busy time of the year with graduations, family reunions and "outdoor fun" holidays, but I hope you have added our ALL WHITE SOCK UP DAY PARTY to you schedule next month!
The June class letter is attached, along with the Reunion Resignation letter. If you have any reunion or pre-reunion activities questions, please feel free to contact me.
I'd like to welcome our classmate, Betty Turner, back to the US. She has been working abroad for the past few years. Welcome home, Betty!
I want to thank Deborah "Vikki" McKissick for sending our class emails for me for the past month. I was unable to send any group emails. When I attempted to go the long route and click every member's name, some of the names could not be found, even though they were on the directory. I am so grateful that Deborah was able to complete the task!
The Scholarship Committee members (Shirlene Parson Shoffner, Beth Cross Smith and Pamela White Mayo) selected two Greyhounds to receive our scholarships. Kristen Moore and Kiera Chambers both received $750 each. Please contribute to our scholarship fund, so that we can award more and larger scholarships in honor of our 50-year reunion in 2020.
Have a great GREYHOUND day!

NOVEMBER 2017
Dear Classmates,
The November class letter is linked. As this month progresses, let's list the "whys" that we give thanks this month. Our family, our friends, our co-workers, our neighbors. Let's reflect on our time at I.C. Norcom High School and be thankful for our teachers there, whether we liked them or not, we learned a lesson from the experience; let's be thankful for the three R's plus everything else we learned in the classroom and let's be thankful for the friends, acquaintances and, yes, those that we never got to know while walking the halls of our beloved alma mater.
Let's be thankful for all we learned on this life's journey!
Have a Great Thanksgiving!

The ICNAA is planning a Grand Reunion for 2017! Information will be shared as soon as it is available. Remember to join the alumni association by visiting their website at icnorcomalumni.com. Alumni dues is $15 per year or $350 one-time life time membership.
Please continue to keep all of our classmates in your prayers, especially, those who are ill and/or incapacitated; those who have lost loved ones; and, those who we may not know are having difficulties.
As always, have a great GREYHOUND day!
Sincerely,
Donna C. Darden

Dear Classmates,
I hope all of you who experienced the TS Matthew came through unscathed. We were blessed in the Hampton Road area!
First, I have attached our October class letter. Please note the class meeting dates have changed and one new activity has been added for next year. Second, I have attached the letter kicking off our scholarship fund drive. I hope you will make a donation to this worthy cause. Third, for some reason, I could not save the information from the ICNAA about their homecoming scholarship breakfast, so I am forwarding it to you.
The current reunion committee has been working since 1989, organizing and executing activities for the good of our high school graduating class and our beloved alma mater. A few have come on board, a few have left and a few have passed on, but those of us still here, want our class to truly reflect the image of being the best ICN class, that has the best reunions and whose classmates really have it together! To do that, we need you and invite ALL 1970 class members to join us at our meetings and activities. We are older now, and we can use all the new energy, support, ideas and input that only you can offer.
Hope to see you at our next meeting/activity!

Please feel free to contact me it you have any questions.
